The Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University, organized the Special Lecture & Public Space Workshop on 10–11 September 2026 at Room AR-104-2. The event was held as part of the course 1106 427 Public Space Design and Planning, bringing together lectures and hands-on learning activities to strengthen students’ understanding of public space design and planning.
Under the theme “Public Space Design Lab: Read – Engage – Create,” the workshop introduced students to processes of observation, analysis, and creative design, emphasizing the relationship between place, people, and design. Through practical activities, participants were encouraged to explore spatial contexts, understand users’ needs, and develop design ideas that respond to real-world conditions.
The workshop was led by Mr. Cee – Grin Tanglertpanya (Shma SoEn), who shared approaches to public space design and facilitated the Public Space Design Lab: Read – Engage – Create activities. The sessions encouraged students to move beyond conventional design thinking and develop a deeper understanding of how public spaces can support people and communities.
In addition, the event featured a special lecture titled “Sustainable Construction for Public Space,” delivered by Mr. Kiattanant Wijitprapai, Buzon Thailand | Product Specialist. The lecture explored concepts and practical knowledge related to sustainable construction for public spaces, connecting design thinking with construction processes, material selection, and approaches to creating functional, high-quality spaces that deliver long-term value.
The integration of design and construction knowledge provided students with a broader perspective on the development of public spaces, from reading and understanding a site and its users to translating ideas into practical and sustainable design solutions.
The event reflected the importance of interdisciplinary learning in architectural education, equipping future designers with the knowledge and perspective to create public spaces that are responsive, meaningful, and sustainable.
